The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, Dr. Pepela Wanjala, today presided over the induction of the boards of hospital managements across the county.
The session, which was also attended by the Health Chief Officer (CO), Dr. Emmanuel Wanjala, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Dickson Wamocho, Sub-County administrators, and a representative of the County Commissioner, saw board members being taken through the ethics and legal aspects of their duties.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Wanjala emphasized the importance of good leadership governance in hospitals, noting that it is essential for ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to the public.
“Hospitals play a critical role in our society, and it is important that they are governed in a way that is transparent, accountable, and effective,” he said.
“This is why it is essential for board members to have a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities, as well as the ethical and legal framework within which they operate.”
The CO also urged board members to work closely with the hospital management teams to develop and implement strategic plans that will improve the quality of healthcare services in their respective hospitals.
“I encourage you to work together with the management teams to ensure that our hospitals are well-managed and that they are providing the best possible care to our residents,” he said.
In their remarks, the board members pledged to work diligently to fulfill their duties and to ensure that the hospitals in the county are governed in a way that is beneficial to the public.
