Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has pledged immediate action against foot and mouth disease ravaging parts of the county.
Speaking at the funeral service of Mama Rose Wafula, mother to his friend and Head of Service Delivery Unit Mr. Everett Wafula, Governor Lusaka announced the procurement of 11,000 vaccines for targeted distribution in Tongaren and Mt Elgon constituencies.
“As a government, we are not letting foot and mouth disease cripple our livestock industry,” declared Governor Lusaka. “We have secured 11,000 vaccines to be administered starting next week, ensuring Bungoma remains protected from this outbreak.”
Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany took the opportunity to address the rising issue of teenage pregnancy. “The future of our daughters hangs in the balance due to our negligence as parents,” she asserted. “I urge all mothers present to join hands with the government in safeguarding our girls and actively reducing these alarming pregnancy rates.”
The somber event, held in Samita Village, Kamukuywa Ward, brought together numerous dignitaries, including County Secretary William Nasong’o, CECMs Benedict Emacar (Public Service) and Agnes Wachie (Gender, Youth and Sports), area MCA Abrama Obama, and County Officers.
