The extensive two-day leadership training and capacity-building workshop targeting a group of MPs, concluded today.
The inaugural participants in the training were selected from the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) and the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA).
Initiated by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD), the program aims at equipping lawmakers to become effective leaders and influential change agents both within and outside parliament, with a focus on advancing the welfare of their constituents.
NIMD, a global organisation dedicated to enhancing inclusive political systems, recently started the Kenya Democracy Academy, the country’s first democracy school, which is providing training to the lawmakers.
The legislators are scheduled to reconvene in mid-November for the second module of this transformative six-month training program, which is implemented by Mzalendo Trust.
The program’s goal is to empower the MPs , enhance their leadership capacity, and strengthen their effectiveness in fulfilling their legislative duties.
