10 Years of Long Wait, Residents Excited As Titles For Settlement Are Set To Be Handed
The County Governments of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of H.E Jonathan Bii Chelilim has finally fulfilled the long awaited land tenure for Maili Nne, Hill School and Kuinet Settlements.
County Executive Committee Member for the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Mr Anthony Sitienei has been on the forefront in the follow up of the tenure documents and finally it has bore fruit and the residents are set to receive the titles.
While meeting the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement programme (KISIP) team led by Zenah Jerotich, Chief Officer Housing and Urban Development Mr Julius Koech appreciated the programme’s interventions and series of projects undertaken in the county especially on securing land tenure to the beneficiaries in the aforementioned Settlements.
“Today residents of Hillschool and Maili Nne will present their personal documents for verification and from here titles will be given to the beneficiaries in a month’s time,” Said Mr Koech.
Director Lands Ms. Nelly Jerotich noted that the journey that started 10 years ago had finally been successful and residents will undertake developments in their parcels of land due to secure tenure.
Director Housing Ms Beatrice Menjo urged the team to fast track the process noting that commitment from the department on any required support was guaranteed.
