Baringo County Signs MOU With Slovakia Government to Support Macademia Farmers
Baringo governor Stanley Kiptis has signed an MOU with Slovakia government to support Macadamia farmers in a two year programme.
According to governor Kiptis this will see farmers supplied with more than 50,000 macadamia seedlings at subsidized prices.
“I want to thank Slovakian government through Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the partnership that will enable our farmers make macadamia farming as a source of livelihood because it is a high value nut,” said the Baringo Govenor.
Kiptis reiterated that the business agreement will see farmers export their Macadamia nuts to European Countries through Slovakia government.
“In the first phase, there are already 20,000 seedlings that will be distributed from tomorrow in various parts of the County, while phase two will see more that 30,000 seedlings distributed to already registered farmers under this programme spearheaded by my administration,” he added.
Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is representing Slovakia government will be the link between us and the Cooperative societies that will be distributing the seedlings.
