Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has warned youths against using social medial platforms to cause violence.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town during a peace meeting that brought together all tries living in Uasin Gishu, Mandago said such characters will be arrested and charged.
“I want to warn youths, especially this time where we are heading to the general elections that anyone whatsoever who will be found using social media to cause violence stern actions will be taken against them,” said the Uasin Gishu County Boss.
Mandago instead called on youths to be on the frontline in preaching peace.
“Let us be in the frontline of preaching peace since elections is just a one-day affair why should we destroy our country because of politics, lets be peace ambassadors before, during, and after the general elections,” Uasin Gishu governor added.
Mandago called on media houses to give blackout to politicians who are fond of spreading lies and hate messages as the county heads to the forthcoming general elections.
“I want to humbly call on media houses to ensure that they give blackout to politicians spreading hate messages this will be a wake-up call to politicians with similar behaviors. While using social media kindly not share any information that might divide Kenyans based on their political and tribal affiliations,” he said.
He further said that the peace meetings will be conducted across the Country.
“We have agreed with County Commissioner that every sub-county is going to hold a meeting on their sub-counties and we will facilitate you all to continue with the meeting until it reaches to the wards, locations, and sub-locations,” stated Governor Mandago.
“We will hold a peaceful election on August 9th therefore anyone saying that there will be chaos he or she is a prophet of doom since we are a peaceful county,” he said.
