Kegogi ward MCA Kepha Sagini Nyakundi Arrainged in An Eldoret Court For providing False Information
A Member of County Assembly from Kisii County has been arraigned in an Eldoret Court facing charges of providing false information to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) contrary to the leadership and integrity act.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan, the MCA denied six counts of offenses read to him.
He was awarded sh 200,000 cash bail with an alternative sh 500,000 bond with a similar surety.
The Kegogi ward MCA Kepha Sagini Nyakundi is said to have provided false information to the EACC on May 4, 2017 in order to get clearance to vie for the MCA position.
According to the charge sheet, the MCA while at Huduma centre at Eldoret town on the said date knowingly provided false information to the EACC to wit a KCSE certificate serial number 3502299 belonging to Nyakundi S. Kepha alongside a self-declaration form purporting that the certificate was his having attended Kenyara secondary school in 2007.
Nyakundi faced other counts of uttering false documents, providing false information to a public entity and personation of a person named in a certificate.
The MCA has been in police custody since his arrest on Wednesday and was transferred to Eldoret for plea taking as the alleged offences were committed in Uasin Gishu County.
The case will come up for hearing on March 17.
