The Football Federation of Kenya(FFK) has been urged to also focus in developing girl child talent especially at the grassroot level.

This was brought up during the launch of SOLASA Football tournament in Eldoret which will involve more than 10 grassroot football teams from Western and North Rift regions.

The sport stakeholders said that for a long time women football has been neglected in the country’s league disadvantaging girls and young women who are gifted with the skill.

They said that if managed well football can help tame social vices like early pregnancies as well as helping empower girl child economically.

Elizabeth Nyambura-Director Solasa Football Club said the tournament which kicked off today at Eldoret Hill School grounds is expected to end on Saturday with winners going home with trophies and cash prices.
