Iten County Referral Hospital Receives a Brand New Ambulance

Iten County Referral Hospital  received a brand new ambulance in a move that will greatly improve timely referrals and emergency response.
The fully equipped ambulance was purchased through Transforming Health system program by the World Bank that costed Sh. 6 Million.
Also distributed included Motorbikes, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) scrubs, TV sets and mama packs for mothers who deliver in the facility that includes a basin, a pair of slippers, leso and sanitary pad.
The Yamaha brand motorcycles will be distributed to Chemwoto Community Health unit in Sambirir ward, Kilima-Sumbeywet Community health unit in Moiben Kuserwo and Kocholwo Community Health Unit in Soy South Ward.  Two motorcycles for Mung’wo and Kapterit that were purchased earlier have already been distributed.
Speaking during the handing over, Health and Sanitation Chief Officer Mary Kipchumba said the new ambulance will help improve service delivery.
“This is a step ahead towards ensuring that we have a quick and enhanced response to any  emergency” she said.
Medical services Director Dr. Patrick Kosgey said the motorcycles will offer support during outreaches, referrals and collection of vaccines among other duties.
Also present included Director Public Health William Kendagor, ICRH Medical Superintendent Dr. Benjamin Kimaile, Administrators Paul Biwott  and Abigael Kipkurgat among other officials from health department.
