Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has launched the biometric mass registration drive for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) that targets over 34,000 vulnerable families across the county, at Ndengelwa Dispensary in Bukembe West, Kanduyi Sub county.



The mass registration exercise seeks to provide affordable, accessible and sustainable medical cover to the residents of Bungoma.



The scheme is expected to offer quality healthcare in the wake of rising medical bills that has seen many families ruined economically by hospital bills and related expenses.



According to Governor Wangamati, the heath scheme will foot bills for both outpatient and inpatient services including those related to chronic diseases such as cancer and kidney ailments.



The Governor also assured the residents of his commitment in realizing his campaign pledges among them affordable healthcare through NHIF scheme, equipping of health facilities, construction of Dual carriageway, Upgrading of Masinde Muliro Stadium, Webuye Milk Plant, improved road network, Scholarship program for bright but needy students, among other development projects and programs.

The exercise, a patnership between the County Government of Bungoma and the National Government, commences today and is expected to run for one week, climaxing on September 1, 2021 in Mt. Elgon Sub county.

Present at the launch included the Deputy Governor Prof. Ngome, Health CEC Member Hon. Anthony Walela, Hon. Collins Mukhongo (Roads), Chief officer Health, Patrick Wandili, MCAs; Hon. Luseneka (Bukembe West) Hon. Joram Wanjala (Bukembe East), Director of Medical service, Dr. Akatu and county government officials
