Busia County Governor, His Excellency Otuoma has continued to roll out a series of transformative infrastructure projects across the county, under the County Roads Infrastructure Improvement Program (CRIIP). The Governor recently commissioned several key projects in Nambale and Matayos sub-counties, emphasizing the program’s potential to drive long-term development and economic growth.
Among the notable projects launched were the graveling of the 3.2-kilometer Namisi Stage to Maolo Road in Bukhayo Central, Nambale sub-county, and the 3.2-kilometer Alwodo-Muleka Road in Bukhayo West Ward, Matayos sub-county. These initiatives are part of a broader plan to improve 15 kilometers of road infrastructure in each ward across the sub-counties, significantly enhancing mobility for both residents and businesses.
The Governor also inspected and commissioned various water and electrification projects, which are being implemented under the Flocca program. These projects aim to provide residents with reliable access to clean water and electricity, addressing critical needs in the region. Additionally, the Governor assessed progress at health facilities in several wards, including Bukhayo East and West, Bukhayo North, and Nambale Township, as part of efforts to improve healthcare services in the county.
Speaking during the launch, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to equitable development, emphasizing that the CRIIP program is a testament to the county’s dedication to achieving the national vision of a more connected, healthier, and empowered community. He noted that the projects were key to transforming the lives of Busia residents by addressing longstanding infrastructural challenges.
In addition to the road and water projects, the Governor also highlighted the progress of the Mundika Trailer Park, a key economic initiative aimed at boosting trade and transportation in the region.
The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, His Excellency Arthur Odera, County Secretary Oscar Juma, Area Members of County Assembly, County Executive Committee Members, and various Chief Officers and directors. Local leaders and residents expressed optimism about the projects, lauding the initiative and its potential to improve their livelihoods.
As CRIIP gains momentum, Busia County is poised for accelerated development, with the projects expected to have a lasting positive impact on the county’s infrastructure, economy, and quality of life. The Governor called on residents to actively support and safeguard these projects, stressing their critical role in the county’s socioeconomic development.
