Heartfelt Tribute to Volleyball Legend Janet Wanja by Oscar Sudi

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of volleyball legend Janet Wanja, describing her death as a devastating loss to Kenya and the global sporting community.


In a moving tribute, Sudi recalled Wanja’s recent role as the fitness trainer for Kenya's national women's volleyball team, the Malkia Strikers, during their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Wanja's dedication and passion were evident as she worked tirelessly to elevate the team to greater heights, a testament to her unwavering commitment to Kenyan sports.


"Janet Wanja's contributions to the sport, especially her role in the Malkia Strikers, were not only invaluable but also an inspiration to many. Her efforts to prepare the team for the Paris Olympics underscored her love for the game and her determination to ensure Kenya's continued success on the global stage," Sudi said in his message.


Wanja is widely remembered as one of Kenya's best volleyball setters, leaving behind a rich legacy of excellence both at the national and international levels. Her demise marks the end of an era for Kenyan volleyball, and her absence will be profoundly felt across the sporting world.


The MP extended heartfelt condolences to Wanja’s family, urging them to find solace in the love and memories she left behind. "I sincerely condole with her family during this difficult time and ask God to grant them comfort and peace that surpasses human understanding," Sudi added.


As Kenya mourns the loss of one of its most beloved sporting figures, Janet Wanja’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and in the history of Kenyan volleyball.
