In August, a beautiful young girl walked into the office of Shokwei V. Barsulai, an award-winning teacher known for her deep commitment to education and the welfare of children. The girl, with a hopeful yet troubled expression, was in dire need of assistance. Her dream was to become a doctor, but she was unable to continue her studies due to outstanding school fees and the financial challenges faced by her guardian.

Listening intently, Shokwei made a promise: she would do everything possible to support this bright young girl when the new year came—though, at the time, she had no idea where the support would come from.
Fast forward to November, when Isaiah Kosgei, a renowned athlete and philanthropist, returned to Kenya after an international race. His passion for supporting education and empowering children is well-known, especially through his Walpole Foundation. As soon as he met Shokwei, he presented an extraordinary offer: “Barsu, I’m back. Give me one child, and I will support them through school.” His words were filled with the same generosity and commitment that had already earned him a reputation as someone who truly cared about giving back to the community.
Shokwei, who had been quietly praying for a miracle, found that miracle in the form of Isaiah Kosgei’s promise. Her faith, combined with Kosgei’s unwavering support, led to a profound outcome: the young girl who had once feared her dreams would slip away now has her school fees fully paid for the entire year of 2025-2026. She is now in Form 3, and all her educational needs, from school supplies to college or university fees, will be taken care of, ensuring that she can focus on her studies and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
In a heartfelt message, Shokwei expressed her overwhelming gratitude: “I call it a miracle. As I always say, God places a burden in your heart, but it is He who provides. All you need to do is listen and serve. When Kosgei was writing down her details, I couldn’t hold back the tears. I realized, for the first time, that anything is possible.”
Through the Walpole Foundation and the generosity of Isaiah Kosgei, this young girl's future is now secure. “May God bless you for us, Isaiah. Keep pushing. We will always be here to cheer you on, alongside our children, as they reach the finishing line.”
