AIC Simat Boys Closed Indefinitely Amid Concerns Over Performance and Management

AIC Simat Boys has been closed indefinitely, following a series of concerning developments that have shaken both students and parents. The decision was made hours after a group of students staged a dramatic nocturnal trek to Eldoret city, an event that has since prompted immediate action from the school administration. In consultation with the Board of Management (BoM) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), the school’s principal, Mr. David Biwott, announced the suspension of activities at the institution until further notice.

Sources close to the school have revealed that the closure follows a combination of factors that have undermined the institution’s reputation. These include a significant decline in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) performance, increasing reports of high-handedness among teachers, and dissatisfaction with the quality of food served to students.

In 2022, AIC Simat Boys recorded a remarkable performance, sending all of its students to the university with an impressive mean score of 8.364. However, the school’s results have plummeted in the following years. In 2023, the mean score dropped to 3.832, and in the just-released KCSE results, it further declined to 3.649, raising alarm bells among parents and students alike.

The downward trend in academic performance has left many families worried about their children's futures. Panic has also spread across the student body, with some expressing uncertainty about the school’s ability to reverse the trend of underperformance.

Despite attempts to reach him for a comment, Principal Biwott did not respond to phone calls at the time of writing. It remains to be seen how long the indefinite closure will last and what steps the administration will take to address the issues that have led to this drastic action.
