The return of free milk program for ECDE pupils in Trans Nzoia was well received by jubilant parents, the teaching fraternity, pupils and community members as Governor George Natembeya and senior members of his staff spearheaded the launch exercise in different venues across the county.
In Kwanza Sub County, Livestock and Fisheries Chief Officer Patrick Osoro led the exercise at Bungoma Primary School in Kapomboi Ward where at least 60 ECDE pupils benefitted from the initiative aimed at boosting nutrition among the pupils and their retention in school.
Speaking during the launch, Mr. Osoro who delivered the governor’s message affirmed that the Ukombozi Milk would be given out to ECDE pupils twice per week, insisting that the pupils have to consume from school.
He reassured the community that H.E. the Governor is committed to implementing his manifesto in full and called on them to support the county administration by accord it maximum cooperation for it to deliver better.
“His Excellency Governor George Natembeya is committed to deliver his pledges to the people of Trans Nzoia and as you can see, he has built ECDE classrooms, the roads are being graded, there is a scholarship program for those in day secondary schools among so many other achievements,” he said.
Mr. Osoro was accompanied by Gender Advisor to the Governor Emmanuel Waswa who reiterated the sentiments even as he pledged to support more grassroots linkages with the county administration.
The return of the program which temporarily halted due to some hitches is an icing sugar on the cake for parents and their pupils as it supports school retention rate just as it enhances their health.
