Charity Ngilu Threatens to Support Government if Kalonzo Musyoka is Not Made Presidential Candidate

Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has sent a strong warning to political leaders, declaring that she will not allow the political manipulation of Kalonzo Musyoka, a key figure from the Kamba community. In a heated statement issued on Wednesday, Ngilu expressed frustration over the lack of clarity surrounding Musyoka’s political future, specifically regarding his potential presidential candidacy.

“I will not allow them to use our son Kalonzo Musyoka to score their political game!” Ngilu declared, referring to the ongoing discussions within the political scene about Musyoka's role in the upcoming elections. Ngilu, a prominent Kamba leader and long-time ally of Musyoka, has been vocal about the community’s need for representation and leadership at the highest levels of government.

She further threatened that if political leaders do not announce Musyoka as their presidential candidate soon, she will lead the Kamba community in supporting the government. “If they will not announce him their presidential candidate now, I am going to deliver him with all the Kamba community to the Government,” Ngilu said, indicating her willingness to shift allegiance to the ruling administration.

Ngilu also hinted at the possibility of Musyoka accepting offers from the government, including key positions such as Speaker of the National Assembly or a Cabinet Secretary. "If William Samoei Ruto will offer him Speaker of the Assembly or CS, then we are going to support the Government," she added.

This bold declaration from Ngilu comes amidst ongoing political maneuvering in the country, with Musyoka’s role in the upcoming elections being closely watched by both his supporters and political rivals. Ngilu’s comments suggest growing impatience within the Kamba community, which has historically played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of Kenya.

As tensions rise within political circles, Ngilu's statement is likely to add fuel to the debate about the future of the Kamba community in Kenya’s leadership, and whether Musyoka will be given the political platform he believes he deserves.

The situation remains fluid as political leaders continue to weigh their options and assess the potential impact of such a shift in support.
