The construction of an ultra-modern market in Uasin Gishu County is progressing steadily, signaling the county’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment for local traders. Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s administration is focused on ensuring the project is completed on time, providing traders with a modern space to continue their businesses.
On Wednesday, County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Martha Cheruto, together with Eng. Benjamin K. Njenga, Secretary for Urban & Metropolitan Development in the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, and Trade Chief Officer Nathan Korir, visited the construction site to assess progress. The team lauded the contractor for the swift pace at which the work is progressing.
Cheruto expressed confidence that the project would be completed in the shortest possible time, enabling traders to soon begin utilizing the new facilities. “We are confident that the project is going to be completed within the shortest time so that our people can begin utilizing it,” Cheruto said during the site visit.
The state-of-the-art market, which will stand at eight stories, is expected to provide space for up to 4,000 traders once complete. The market is designed to modernize the county’s trade sector by offering a spacious and well-organized environment for vendors, enhancing both business efficiency and customer experience.
The project, which is part of Governor Bii Chelilim's broader vision for Uasin Gishu's economic growth, aims to support local entrepreneurs and contribute to the county's economic development by providing them with a state-of-the-art marketplace. Upon completion, it will not only accommodate traders but also improve the overall infrastructure in the region, offering a lasting impact on Uasin Gishu's business landscape.
