On January 12, 2024, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, joined National Police Service (NPS) officers and their families for an interdenominational prayer service at the National Police College, Embakasi A Campus. The service was attended by a host of senior officials, including Inspector General of Police, Hon. Douglas Kanja, Principal Secretary for Internal Security, Dr. Raymond Omollo, and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) Eliud Lagat (KPS) and Gilbert Masengeli (APS).
The sermon, delivered by the Chief Chaplain of the APS, Bishop Dr. Evans Kibet ASP, focused on building faith in Christ Jesus, with inspiration drawn from Proverbs 18:21, which emphasizes the power of words in shaping our lives.
In his remarks, CS Murkomen expressed his gratitude to all NPS officers for their dedicated service and patriotism in safeguarding the nation. He particularly acknowledged the successes of the multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu, which has made significant strides in reducing cattle rustling in the North Rift region.
The CS assured the NPS leadership of his unwavering support for ongoing reforms within the service. This includes efforts to modernize police equipment, digitalize the Occurrence Book (OB), and improve welfare, focusing on mental health, housing, and motor vehicles for officers. Murkomen emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the NPS in all these endeavors.
Commandant of the NPC Embakasi A Campus, Mr. Davis Lomwatu, SAIG, was also present at the service, which underscored the collaborative spirit and dedication of the NPS in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
