William Kabogo, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, recently visited the Jitume Digital Hubs at  The Eldoret National Polytechnic for a familiarization tour. During the visit, the CS encouraged students to leverage the expansive opportunities offered by the digital space, which he highlighted as essential for driving innovation and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking to the students, CS Kabogo emphasized the importance of digital skills in today’s rapidly evolving economy. He urged the students to explore these opportunities as they hold the key to unlocking both personal and national economic growth. "As a ministry, we are committed to enhancing internet connectivity across the country to support the Digital Superhighway pillar of the BETA agenda. Together, we can unlock Kenya's full potential in the digital economy and ensure no one is left behind," Kabogo said.

The tour was also attended by the Chief Principal of  The Eldoret National Polytechnic, Dr. Charles Koech, who warmly welcomed the Cabinet Secretary. Dr. Koech expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s efforts to support the development of digital skills among young people and strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.

The Jitume Digital Hubs, part of Kenya’s broader initiative to expand access to technology and digital education, are designed to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. The hubs are expected to play a key role in empowering youth and fostering innovation across the country.
