Dr. Ekrah Predicts AI Will Disrupt 83 Million Jobs by 2028

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to revolutionize the global workforce, with Dr Ekrah Ndungu the Chairperson Kenya national association of private colleges KENAPCO predicting that by 2028, 83 million jobs could be replaced by AI technologies. Speaking at the World Summit in Malaysia on "Education and Bridging Global Gaps," Dr. Ekrah issued a bold warning about the future of work, education, and parenting in the digital age.

"How safe is your career?" she asked, emphasizing that the current generation might need to change careers up to seven times during their lifetime to adapt to the rapid advancements in AI. This sobering forecast underscores the need for individuals to develop digital agility to remain relevant in the evolving job market.

Dr. Ekrah also tackled the contentious issue of technology in parenting, challenging traditional practices that restrict children's exposure to gadgets. “If you’re denying your kids access to technology, you’re raising them to illiteracy,” she declared. “The illiterate of today are not those who can’t read or write—they are those who can’t use technology.”

Instead of avoiding technology, the Chairperson Kenya national association of private colleges KENAPCO,  urged parents to focus on teaching their children how to adapt to and use it responsibly. "Digital agility is the key to thriving in the AI era," she said, cautioning against creating a generation unprepared for the demands of a tech-driven future.

Her thought-provoking speech served as a call to action for parents, educators, and policymakers to embrace technology and integrate it into education and daily life. "The future will belong to those who can leverage technology for growth and innovation," she concluded.

As AI continues to reshape industries and redefine skills, Dr. Ekrah's predictions highlight an urgent question: are you and your children prepared to thrive in the age of AI?
