Dr. Sam Kottut Takes Over as CECM for Agriculture Department

 



In a seamless transition of leadership, Dr. Sam Kottut officially took over as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock, and Fisheries, following the handover from the outgoing CECM, Mr. Edward Sawe. The ceremony took place at the Agricultural Management Services (AMS), marking the beginning of a new chapter for the department.

During the ceremony, Mr. Sawe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the agriculture team for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his tenure. Reflecting on his achievements, he highlighted the department's significant accomplishments, particularly the recognition by Infotrak polls, which ranked it as the best agriculture department among all 47 counties.

"This success is a testament to the teamwork and dedication of everyone in the department," Sawe said, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to this notable achievement. He also underscored the vital role the department plays, not only at the county level but also in supporting national initiatives.

"The county relies on us, and the National Government looks to us to manage essential tasks such as fertilizer destruction and the management of dryers, among other responsibilities," Sawe added.

Taking the reins, Dr. Kottut, who previously served as the CECM for the Department of Water, expressed his commitment to continuing the work of his predecessor. "I am committed to working closely with all staff to ensure that we achieve even greater success than before," Kottut said. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving the department forward and building on the strong foundation laid by Sawe.

The handing-over ceremony was attended by the Chief Officer of Agriculture, Mr. Elphas Kesio, along with directors from the department, who expressed their full support for the new CECM and reaffirmed their commitment to achieving the department's goals.
