Eldoret City is on the brink of a major transformation, as plans to modernize and organize the city are now in full swing, according to Julius Kitur, Chairperson of the Eldoret City Municipality Board. The ongoing improvements are aimed at addressing the challenges the city has faced in recent years, including waste management, infrastructure, and urban development.

Speaking to the press, Kitur emphasized the importance of patience as the municipality works to address various urban issues. "We understand the concerns that some residents have raised, particularly regarding waste management and the condition of our roads. However, I assure you that we are taking significant steps to improve these areas. Eldoret is on its way to becoming a more organized, clean, and modern city," Kitur said.

One of the major concerns in recent months has been the capacity of the city's dumpsites. The previous waste disposal site had reached its limits, leading to operational difficulties. Kitur acknowledged these challenges, explaining that alternative waste disposal sites are already being developed, and logistical issues surrounding waste collection are being addressed.

“The issue of the dumpsite has been a challenge, but we are actively working on solutions. The site was full, and trucks could not access it properly. We've identified an alternative site and have taken steps to ensure efficient waste management. We ask for your patience as we implement these changes," Kitur explained.

He further assured the public that ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure are progressing well. These include road repairs, drainage systems, and the development of public spaces that will make Eldoret more accessible and aesthetically pleasing.

“The changes you will see in Eldoret between now and June will be significant. We are committed to transforming our city into a modern, organized urban space where residents and visitors can enjoy a high quality of life. We’re talking about a clean city, efficient public services, and better traffic management,” Kitur added.

The Municipality Board is working closely with the county government and various stakeholders to ensure the city’s growth is sustainable and well-managed. Kitur emphasized that public participation remains a key component of the transformation, with residents encouraged to share their ideas and concerns.

“I stand here today, not only as the chair of the Eldoret Municipality Board but as a fellow resident, to assure you that we are committed to making Eldoret a model city in Kenya. We will continue to engage with the community and keep you informed every step of the way,” Kitur concluded.

With the roadmap in place and clear goals set for the near future, Eldoret residents can look forward to a vibrant, modern city that meets the needs of its growing population. The transformation is set to begin, and the city’s future is bright.
