In a moment of immense pride and celebration, Doris Khatete, the mother of Sarah Mtenyo Khatete, expressed her excitement and gratitude after her daughter posted outstanding results in the recently announced KCSE 2024 exams. Sarah, a student at the prestigious Kenya High School, achieved an exceptional A grade with 84 points, securing her place among the top-performing students in the country.
As a parent, Doris shared her immense joy, highlighting Sarah's hard work, discipline, and strong moral character. "I am beyond excited about the results Sarah has achieved," Doris said. "She is a hardworking, God-fearing, and disciplined young woman who has always set her goals and worked tirelessly to achieve them."
Doris went on to express her appreciation for the schools that shaped Sarah’s educational journey. "I want to thank Eldo Baraka Primary School, where Sarah started her academic journey and topped her year. They laid the foundation for her success," Doris said, reflecting on the importance of discipline, hard work, and self-motivation in the school’s teaching approach.
Eldo Baraka Primary School, where Sarah completed her primary education, has a track record of producing well-rounded students who excel in academics and co-curricular activities. Doris noted that Sarah’s success at Kenya High School is a reflection of the strong foundation provided by the primary school. "The school prepares learners to be inquisitive, independent, and research-oriented, which is why our students have continued to perform well in secondary school and beyond," Doris added. "About 90% of the students from Sarah’s cohort are now in university, and we are proud to be associated with such a hardworking and successful institution."
Vitalis Achonga, the headteacher of Eldo Baraka Primary School, spoke highly of Sarah's character and dedication. "Sarah was hardworking, outgoing, and inquisitive," Achonga said. "She excelled in co-curricular activities, particularly in drama, and her academic achievements reflect her commitment to excellence. We always knew she had the potential to achieve great things, and we are not surprised by her top performance."
The success of Sarah Mtenyo has not only brought pride to her family and school but has also served as a source of motivation for current students. Ayak Chuei, the president of the Eldo Baraka Primary School student council, expressed admiration for Sarah’s achievement, especially as a female student excelling in a competitive academic environment. "We are proud of Sarah's success. She has shown us that with hard work, we can achieve great things. As I prepare for my own exams this year, I am motivated to follow in her footsteps and attend a good secondary school just like her," Chuei said.
The celebration of Sarah Mtenyo’s success highlights the importance of strong support systems—both from families and schools—in helping students achieve their goals.
As Doris Khatete and the Eldo Baraka community celebrate Sarah’s remarkable achievement, they also emphasize the power of dedication, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence in education.
