Hon. Josses Lelmengit, the Member of Parliament for Emgwen Constituency in Nandi County, today paid a courtesy call on Principal Secretary (PS) Rose Njogu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Diaspora and Foreign Employment Department (@Diaspora_KE). The meeting focused on exploring strategies to create more employment opportunities for Kenyan youth, both domestically and abroad.
During the discussion, PS Njogu reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment through labor migration initiatives, in line with the government’s three-point strategy. This strategy aims to generate job opportunities within Kenya, facilitate online job opportunities, and secure positions for Kenyans in the diaspora.
PS Njogu also emphasized the importance of equipping young Kenyans with the necessary skills to remain competitive on a global scale. She stated that enhancing the employability of youth through training and skill-building programs is crucial for ensuring they can seize international job opportunities.
Hon. Lelmengit, who was accompanied by Ms. Eunice Sugut, a Kenyan diaspora member residing in Finland, expressed his strong belief in the critical role that youth play in driving Kenya’s economic development. He reiterated his interest in collaborating with the Ministry to identify and create more employment opportunities for the youth, both within the country and internationally.
The courtesy call underscored the shared commitment of both parties to improving the livelihoods of Kenyan youth through sustainable employment solutions and greater integration into the global workforce. The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue dialogue and explore concrete steps to implement the proposed initiatives.
