Five Killed in Grisly Road Accident Involving Nissan Matatu and School Bus in Nandi County



Tragedy struck along the Kapsabet-Eldoret Highway in the Mutwot area of Nandi County yesterday evening, as five people lost their lives in a horrific road accident involving a Nissan Matatu and a school bus. The accident occurred when the Matatu, traveling towards Eldoret, collided with the school bus, resulting in a devastating crash that claimed multiple lives.

The victims include the driver of the Nissan Matatu and two other passengers, who were confirmed dead at the scene. A fourth passenger, who was critically injured, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Mosoriot Hospital.

In the heartbreaking turn of events, a 4-year-old girl, who was the only occupant in the school bus, also lost her life. The young child was thrown out of the bus through the broken windscreen during the impact, and she died on the spot.

Witnesses at the scene described the accident as grisly, with wreckage scattered across the road and emergency response teams working frantically to retrieve the bodies. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, but investigations are underway.
