Former CS Aisha Jumwa Appointed Chairperson of Kenya Roads Board

Former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, Aisha Jumwa, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board (KRB) by President William Samoei Ruto. The announcement was made in a statement from the Presidential Communications Unit, where Jumwa expressed her gratitude for the appointment and the trust placed in her leadership.

"I am deeply honored and profoundly grateful to President William Samoei Ruto for appointing me as the Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board. This appointment is both a privilege and a call to service, to which I am fully committed," Jumwa said in her statement.

Jumwa’s appointment comes at a time when Kenya’s infrastructure development is at the forefront of the government’s agenda, with the ongoing expansion and modernization of roads playing a critical role in the country’s economic growth and transformation. Under the visionary leadership of President Ruto, the country has seen substantial improvements in road networks, which are seen as vital to driving trade, enhancing connectivity, and promoting regional development.

In her statement, Jumwa highlighted her dedication to advancing the government's objectives for infrastructure development and her commitment to the Better Roads for All (BETA) initiative. "I am inspired by the progress we have made in the sector and pledge to work diligently to further enhance this progress, in line with BETA," she added.

Jumwa emphasized her firm resolve to work towards improving road safety, reducing traffic congestion, and ensuring equitable distribution of road resources across the country. She also expressed her eagerness to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the roads agenda is effectively implemented to benefit all Kenyans.

"I look forward to diligently serving my fellow Kenyans toward the betterment of our great nation. Together, we will continue building a prosperous, connected, and sustainable future for Kenya," Jumwa concluded.

Her appointment has been received positively by various stakeholders in the transport and infrastructure sectors, with many expressing confidence that Jumwa’s extensive experience and leadership abilities will be instrumental in driving the success of the Kenya Roads Board and the nation’s infrastructure development goals.

As Kenya continues to make strides in transforming its roads and transport systems, Aisha Jumwa’s appointment signals a new chapter in the country’s efforts to build a modern, efficient, and safe road network.
