Within just six months, Liz expanded her business beyond honey processing, incorporating beekeeping and passion fruit farming into her operations. This strategic diversification helped her create a sustainable income stream while promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices. Her venture quickly gained traction, proving that with the right support and determination, small businesses can thrive and make a lasting impact.
The success of Akila Honey is not just a personal triumph for Liz but also a testament to the effectiveness of KYEOP, which has empowered nearly 86,000 young Kenyans to start and grow their own businesses. This initiative, under the wise leadership of Mr. Henry Rithaa, the Director-General and CEO of MSEA, has played a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship and supporting youth enterprises. Mr. Rithaa’s vision has been pivotal in steering the organization towards ensuring that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Kenya have the tools, training, and resources to succeed.
