Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reiterated his commitment to fostering unity and progress for Kenya, particularly during a period of economic, social, and political challenges. Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, Gachagua spent the day engaging with Maa leaders from Kajiado and Narok counties. He acknowledged the critical issues facing the country and highlighted the shared responsibility of all communities in building a stronger and more equitable nation.
“I commend the leaders for their immense knowledge and patriotism for our motherland. It is clear from our discussions today that we must continue to work together for the common good of all Kenyans,” Gachagua stated.
The meeting included leaders such as Hon. Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North Member of Parliament), Dr. Daniel Kanchori (Kajiado County), Hon. Joshua Olowuasa (Kajiado East), Martin Olekamwaro (Narok North), Moses Birisha (Kajiado Central), James Lesere (Dalalekutuk Ward), Peter Tirishe (Mosiro Ward), Abraham Osoi (Matapato Ward), Ole Esho (Narok Elder), and Benson Saayo (Narok Elder), among others.
Gachagua expressed his gratitude for the concerns raised by the Maa leaders, noting that the issues discussed were not limited to the Maa community but were national in scope, affecting all Kenyans. He emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns, which ranged from economic disparities to political inclusion, as part of a broader effort to ensure that every citizen, regardless of community, has a fair stake in the country’s future.
“As we confront the current challenges, it is essential that we work together, as one nation, to navigate through this difficult period. The concerns you have raised are not just for the Maa people but resonate with every Kenyan, and it is time we focus on solutions that uplift all of us,” Gachagua added.
The discussions also underscored the need for continued dialogue between different communities and government stakeholders. Gachagua affirmed his commitment to listening to all segments of society and working toward a unified Kenya where opportunities are shared equally.
“We must build a Kenya that is stronger, more resilient, and more inclusive,” he concluded. “Together, we will ensure a better and more equal future for all our people.”
The meeting marked another step in Gachagua’s efforts to engage with various communities across Kenya, reinforcing the importance of unity in overcoming the challenges the nation faces.
