Githunguri Member of Parliament, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, has shared her heartfelt fulfillment in feeding over 22,000 learners across 50 schools in her constituency. Through a subsidized school feeding program providing hot lunches at just 20 Kenyan shillings daily, she aims to tackle childhood hunger and improve student performance.
Reflecting on her own childhood challenges of missing lunch, Wamuchomba expressed her determination to rewrite the narrative for the next generation. "Today, we added a ripe banana for the same cost. Feeding these learners makes me the happiest mom in town," she said.
The program, made possible through partnerships with various stakeholders, ensures learners in Githunguri access nutritious meals, a critical factor in enhancing concentration and academic success. Wamuchomba extended her gratitude to her partners for supporting this transformative initiative.
This effort highlights the MP’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting education in her constituency, setting a powerful example of leadership focused on the well-being of the community.
