Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has announced the final stages of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing the financial struggles faced by dairy farmers in the region. Despite their hard work and dedication to delivering milk to cooperatives, many farmers have found it increasingly difficult to meet the financial demands of educating their children.
To address this pressing issue, Governor Bii's administration is rolling out a new program that will see local dairy cooperatives partner with schools, ensuring that farmers' children can receive uninterrupted education. The initiative is set to provide a sustainable solution that allows families to pay school fees directly through the milk they deliver, creating a seamless connection between agriculture and education.
Governor Bii discussed the program’s implementation with key stakeholders, including Paul Tiret, Chairman of the Tuiyo Farmers Cooperative, officials from the Ministry of Cooperatives, and representatives from Space AI, a company providing technological support for the initiative.
In his statement, Governor Bii emphasized the importance of supporting both the education sector and the dairy industry. "The dairy sector plays a crucial role in driving economic growth, but we must ensure that our farmers do not have to choose between supporting their families and educating their children," he said.
The program aims to ease the financial burden on farmers while also promoting greater community involvement in both agriculture and education. By establishing these partnerships, the county hopes to foster a more integrated approach to rural development.
Governor Bii’s administration remains committed to supporting farmers and ensuring that the youth of Uasin Gishu have access to quality education, paving the way for a brighter future for both the agricultural and educational sectors.
