Uasin Gishu Governor, Jonathan Bii, today hosted the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo, for a courtesy call at his office in Eldoret, ahead of the World Data Privacy Day event set to take place at the Eldoret Sports Club.
Governor Bii emphasized the importance of protecting data in the digital age, noting that safeguarding citizens’ rights and privacy is essential to fostering trust and security in the digital economy. “In an increasingly digital world, protecting data is not just a matter of policy, but a crucial responsibility. It is essential to safeguard the rights and privacy of our citizens,” said Bii.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed strategies to strengthen data protection efforts within Uasin Gishu County and across the nation, with a focus on promoting ethical data practices that prioritize the well-being of citizens. They also underscored the need for public awareness on data privacy, especially with the rise of digital technologies in everyday life.
Governor Bii acknowledged the role of the national government in driving data protection initiatives and assured the Cabinet Secretary of Uasin Gishu County’s full support in advancing secure and responsible data practices at the local level.
