Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii today joined Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and other government officials at Eldoret International Airport to bid farewell to President William Samoei Ruto. The President is on his way to Kampala, Uganda, to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

Governor Bii, who was present at the airport to show support, expressed pride in the role President Ruto continues to play in advancing Africa’s agricultural development agenda. "Today, we send our President with best wishes as he represents Kenya at this important summit. The Post-Malabo CAADP initiative is vital for the future of agriculture across the continent, and we are confident that Kenya will continue to lead in this crucial sector," said Governor Bii.

The African Union Extraordinary Summit, scheduled to focus on advancing the implementation of the CAADP, is expected to bring together key leaders from across the continent to discuss strategies for improving agriculture and food security in Africa.

Governor Bii further emphasized the importance of such regional engagements for the future of agriculture in Uasin Gishu and Kenya, stating, “As a county known for its agricultural prowess, we stand behind the President in all efforts that aim to strengthen Africa’s agricultural sector and ensure food security for generations to come.”

The President’s attendance at the summit highlights Kenya’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that seek to transform Africa’s agricultural landscape, aligning with the goals of the African Union and its members.
