Hon Geoffrey Kaituko, Principal Secretary in the State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, participated in a high-level meeting alongside Cabinet Secretaries, agency CEOs, and private sector representatives to discuss measures to address barriers that affect the ease of doing business in Kenya. The meeting, aimed at creating solutions to enhance Kenya’s business environment, was chaired by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, His Excellency Dr. Musalia Mudavadi.
During the session, the participants deliberated on strategies to improve the country’s business climate, identifying key issues and proposing actionable steps to overcome them. The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to streamline operations and promote economic growth across sectors, particularly in the shipping and maritime industries.
Additionally, Hon Kaituko signed the Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2023/2024 with Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development, and Public Works, His Excellency Hassan Ali Joho, at the CS’s office. The signing is a crucial step in ensuring accountability and the effective implementation of government programs and projects.
The ceremony also included the signing of Performance Contracts between CS Joho and the chairpersons of the boards of key maritime institutions: the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya National Shipping Line (KNSL), and Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA). These agreements mark an important milestone in advancing the country’s maritime sector, fostering collaboration between government agencies and private sector stakeholders to achieve the desired growth and efficiency in the industry.
