Kapsait Milk Cooler and Ngaria Village Connected to National Grid

In a major step towards improving infrastructure in Marakwet West, the Kapsait milk cooler (Lelan Highland Dairies) and Ngaria village have been officially connected to the national electricity grid. This long-awaited development was made possible through the efforts of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), who began the final phase of electricity installation this morning.

The connection of Kapsait milk cooler to the national grid is a direct result of promises made during the 2022 election campaigns by the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Toroitich Timothy Kipchumba. The MP had pledged to ensure that the facility, vital for the local dairy industry, would be connected to the national power supply to boost its efficiency and productivity.

Speaking about the achievement, Hon. Kipchumba expressed his gratitude for the successful completion of the project, despite the difficult economic climate the nation faces. "It is a testament to our resilience and determination as a community and as a nation that we are making progress, even in the face of tough times," he said.

The newly connected electricity supply is expected to transform the dairy sector in Kapsait, where farmers will now be able to store and process milk more efficiently, improving the quality of their products and boosting their income. Additionally, the electricity supply to Ngaria village will benefit local businesses, health facilities, and educational institutions, opening the door for more development in the region.

The MP assured residents that this was only the beginning of further efforts to ensure that the entire Marakwet West constituency would be connected to the national grid. "I remain committed to seeing all of Marakwet West benefit from the same opportunities, and this is just the first step in achieving that," Kipchumba affirmed.

As the installation continues, local leaders and community members have expressed their appreciation for the government’s support, recognizing the positive impact it will have on their livelihoods and overall community development.

The completion of this project highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to rural electrification and economic empowerment across the country.

To God be the glory for His provision, as Marakwet West takes another step toward a brighter, more connected future.
