Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has called for the resignation of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi following remarks made by Muturi regarding the abduction of his son. Sudi accused Muturi of abusing the National Intelligence Service (NIS) in an attempt to garner political sympathy, labelling the move as “desperate” and a form of “blackmail.”
Sudi, known for his outspoken stance on various political issues, took to social media and public statements to criticize Muturi’s actions, questioning the timing and motive behind his statements. “This desperate move, made now that your political career has waned, is a clear BLACKMAIL attempt. The timing is highly suspicious, revealing a COWARD man clutching at straws for political expedience,” Sudi remarked.
The controversy stems from Muturi’s claims that his son was abducted, which he alleged was linked to a political scheme orchestrated by his enemies. However, Sudi dismissed these allegations, stating that the situation appeared politically motivated rather than an innocent incident. “In regards to Muturi’s son’s woes, who is my AGEMATE, kwani alishikwa bure?” Sudi questioned, implying that the abduction may not have been as innocent as portrayed.
The Kapseret MP also expressed frustration over what he called Muturi’s inability to remain in power despite the challenges he faces, pointing out that there are many qualified individuals from Embu, Muturi’s home region, who can step up to serve the country with greater enthusiasm and commitment. “There are many Embu professionals who can serve the country with zeal, you can SHIP out,” Sudi added, suggesting that Muturi step down and make room for others.
Sudi’s comments have sparked a political debate, with many supporters of Muturi and other government officials calling for calm and a thorough investigation into the allegations. On the other hand, Muturi’s critics have rallied behind Sudi, accusing the CS of attempting to manipulate the public by using his son's abduction as a political tool.
As the matter continues to unfold, both sides remain entrenched in their positions. Sudi’s call for Muturi’s resignation is likely to intensify the political discourse around the future of the Public Service Cabinet Secretary. The political tension between the two figures also highlights the ongoing power struggles within Kenya’s government as politicians continue to position themselves ahead of future elections.
Muturi has yet to respond directly to Sudi’s latest remarks, and it remains to be seen whether the call for his resignation will gain more traction within government circles or among the public.
