Kenya and African Development Bank Strengthen Collaboration on Affordable Housing

Principal Secretary for Housing, Charles Hinga, today chaired a high-level meeting between the Affordable Housing Board and a delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by Vice President Solomon Quaynor. The meeting focused on advancing Kenya’s affordable housing agenda through strategic partnerships and innovative financing solutions.

The discussions centered on key areas of collaboration aimed at tackling the country’s housing deficit and promoting sustainable urban development. Both parties explored various approaches to addressing the growing need for affordable housing, while ensuring long-term environmental and economic sustainability.

Vice President Quaynor reaffirmed AfDB’s commitment to supporting Kenya in realizing its housing vision and improving the quality of life for its citizens. He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the Bank and the Kenyan government to meet the nation’s housing needs.

“We are fully committed to working with Kenya in achieving its housing goals and ensuring that more citizens have access to affordable and quality homes,” Quaynor said.

Principal Secretary Charles Hinga praised the AfDB’s ongoing support, emphasizing that the partnership would be pivotal in transforming Kenya’s housing landscape. He stressed that innovative financing solutions and strategic partnerships, such as those being discussed with the AfDB, would significantly contribute to the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing for all Kenyans.

“The collaboration with AfDB is key to addressing the housing deficit in Kenya. This partnership will play a crucial role in delivering affordable homes and fostering equitable development across the country,” Hinga said.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to mutual cooperation and the establishment of timelines for immediate interventions in identified areas of cooperation. Both parties agreed to work together closely in the coming months to begin implementing actionable steps toward achieving the shared housing goals.
