The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, today met with His Excellency Wael Nasreldin Attiya, the Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya, in a courtesy call aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, centered around key issues affecting the citizens of both countries, particularly in relation to diaspora communities.
During the discussions, PS Njogu and Ambassador Nasreldin delved into the portability of social benefits for their respective diasporas. They also explored future initiatives and best practices in diaspora management, emphasizing how these measures can better serve the needs of their nationals living abroad.
PS Njogu highlighted the ongoing efforts by the Government of Kenya, through the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, to integrate the Kenyan diaspora into the country’s development agenda. This is being achieved through various diaspora-centric projects aimed at empowering the community and fostering sustainable development.
Both parties agreed on the importance of people-to-people relations and underscored the potential of cultural exchanges and other collaborative initiatives in strengthening ties between Kenya and Egypt.
“We are committed to furthering our engagement with the Egyptian government and exploring new ways of supporting our respective diaspora communities,” said PS Njogu.
Also present during the meeting were Mr. Glenns Etyang, Deputy Director-OPS, and Mr. Ledama Meisashi, FSO. The discussions concluded with both parties expressing their eagerness to continue working together for the mutual benefit of their nations and peoples.
