A delegation led by Livestock Development Principal Secretary, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, and the Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) CEO, Dr. Noor, recently visited the Kenya Leather Industrial Park in Kinanie to assess the progress of ongoing developments. The park, which aims to transform Kenya into a global leader in the leather industry, has reached significant milestones, with the successful completion of a water treatment plant and key infrastructure supporting the first two leather tanneries and factories.
As the project progresses, attention is now focused on finalizing critical infrastructure, including the access road, industrial power supply, and ensuring a reliable water source for the operations. These developments are crucial to ensuring the park's full functionality and efficiency.
The Kenya Leather Industrial Park, with an estimated potential value of KES 120 billion, is set to become a major player in the global leather market. Once fully operational, the park is expected to create over 100,000 jobs, providing a significant boost to the local economy and improving livelihoods across the country.
The KLDC remains committed to the successful operationalization of the park, recognizing its transformative potential to generate employment opportunities, promote industrial growth, and contribute to Kenya’s economic advancement. The park is poised to position Kenya as a key hub in the global leather industry, attracting investment and fostering sustainable development.
With its vast potential and ongoing development, the Kenya Leather Industrial Park is seen as a critical pillar in Kenya’s industrialization agenda, promising long-term benefits for the country’s economy and workforce.
