Likuyani Member of Parliament, Hon. Innocent Mugabe, has expressed deep gratitude to Principal Secretary (PS) Energy, Alex Wachira, for his swift intervention in restoring power to the residents of Matunda Municipality, following a prolonged outage that had caused significant disruption.
In a statement released earlier today, Hon. Mugabe hailed the timely restoration of electricity, which he described as "a relief to many residents and businesses that had suffered the adverse effects of the blackout." The outage, which had lasted for several days, had become a source of frustration for the local population, many of whom rely on electricity for both their homes and livelihoods.
"It was becoming a thorn in the flesh for the people of Matunda. Essential services were disrupted, businesses were unable to operate, and the community was severely inconvenienced," said Hon. Mugabe. "We truly appreciate the intervention of PS Energy, Mr. Alex Wachira, whose swift and effective action restored power to the municipality, ensuring normalcy returned."
The outage had sparked concerns among residents, with many voicing their frustrations over the delays in restoration. The situation had drawn attention from local leaders, prompting Hon. Mugabe to raise the issue with relevant authorities.
In his remarks, the MP also issued a notice to Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), urging them to be more attentive to their customers and ensure that such disruptions are addressed swiftly in the future. "This serves as a timely reminder to KPLC to be mindful of their customers. Power outages are an unfortunate reality, but it is imperative that they are addressed quickly and efficiently to minimize the inconvenience caused to residents."
Hon. Mugabe also extended his sincere apologies to the people of Matunda for the inconvenience they had experienced during the power outage. He assured them that he would continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders, including KPLC and the Ministry of Energy, to prevent future disruptions and ensure that the needs of the community are met.
"While we regret the inconvenience caused, we remain committed to ensuring that the people of Matunda and Likuyani at large receive the services they deserve. We will continue advocating for better infrastructure and more reliable services, as this is critical for the growth and development of our constituency," concluded Hon. Mugabe.
Residents of Matunda Municipality have expressed their relief and gratitude for the restoration of power, hoping that the swift action will set a precedent for future power management in the region.
