Moi University Appoints New Council Under Leadership of Prof. Noah Midamba to Drive Institutional Revival

Moi University has appointed a new council to steer the institution towards a successful future, with Professor Noah Midamba, the immediate former Vice Chancellor of KCA University, taking the helm as chairman. The newly constituted council, which took effect immediately, is tasked with addressing critical challenges facing the university, including human resource management, mounting debts, and the restoration of student and stakeholder confidence.

The new council brings together a wealth of experience from diverse fields, with the appointment of distinguished members including Dr. Edward Sambili, Prof. Ronald Wasike, Dr. Mercy Nyambura Kanyara, and Waceke Makori. Their collective expertise is expected to play a pivotal role in reviving the second oldest public university in Kenya and ensuring its long-term sustainability and success.

One of the council’s primary objectives will be to address the university's human resource challenges, focusing on strategic hiring, capacity building, and retaining top talent to ensure that the institution can deliver quality education and research. Additionally, the council aims to tackle the university's mounting debt and create a sustainable financial framework to alleviate financial pressures and ensure growth.

Another crucial task for the new leadership will be to restore trust and confidence among students, staff, and external stakeholders. The university, which has long been a pillar of higher education in Kenya, has faced challenges in recent years that have affected its reputation and the overall student experience. The council's efforts will be crucial in rebuilding Moi University's status as a leading academic institution in the country.

Chairman Prof. Midamba expressed optimism about the future of the university and outlined the council's key priorities: "We have a clear mandate to restore the pride and legacy of Moi University. Our focus will be on addressing the critical issues that have hindered its growth, including financial stability, human resources, and building stronger relationships with all stakeholders," Prof. Midamba said. "With the new team in place, we are committed to turning things around and positioning Moi University as a center of excellence in education, research, and innovation."

The appointment of the new council comes at a crucial time as Moi University seeks to overcome the challenges that have hindered its progress in recent years. With the backing of an experienced and dedicated team, the university is poised to embark on a path to recovery and renewed success.
