In a move aimed at strengthening vaccine manufacturing in Kenya, Kenya BioVax Institute Limited inducted its newly appointed board members today at a comprehensive induction program held at Mombasa Beach Hotel. The event marked a pivotal moment in advancing the Institute’s mission to foster self-reliance in vaccine production and enhance public health outcomes in Kenya and the broader African continent.

Hon. Dr. Mishra, Chair of the Board of Directors, opened the event with a keynote address emphasizing the crucial role the board will play in guiding the Institute toward achieving its strategic objectives. He underscored the significance of aligning the Institute's goals with Kenya’s national health priorities and ensuring that decisions made by the board are informed, effective, and aligned with global best practices.

The induction program provided board members with a detailed understanding of Kenya BioVax’s progress, including its ongoing efforts toward securing World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification—a major milestone that would position the Institute as a key player in global vaccine manufacturing. The program also focused on governance, with an emphasis on the board’s responsibility to make strategic decisions that drive the organization forward.

A major highlight of the induction was the discussion on the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in scaling the Institute’s operations. Experts from the Ministry of Health, international agencies, and private sector partners shared insights on how collaborations can enhance funding, innovation, and operational capacity. Interactive sessions also encouraged discussions on sustainable production models, regulatory compliance, and research priorities, all with the goal of improving vaccine accessibility across Africa.

The induction event reinforced the Institute’s commitment to strengthening Kenya’s position as a leader in vaccine manufacturing on the continent. With the newly inducted board members now in place, the Kenya BioVax Institute is poised to make impactful decisions that will help realize its vision of enhanced vaccine accessibility and self-sufficiency, significantly contributing to public health efforts in Kenya and Africa as a whole.
