President Ruto Breaks Ground for KSh1.9 Billion Moi's Bridge and Matunda Water and Sanitation Project

In a significant step towards improving the quality of life for residents in the region, President William Ruto today broke ground for the KSh1.9 billion Moi's Bridge and Matunda Water and Sanitation Project. This ambitious initiative is set to benefit over 100,000 people across Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, and Kakamega Counties.

The project, which is a key part of the government’s broader infrastructure development agenda, aims to improve access to clean water and enhance sanitation facilities in these counties, directly contributing to better health and livelihoods. The expansion of water and sanitation infrastructure will support local communities, foster agricultural productivity, and ensure the well-being of the people in the region.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, President Ruto emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges and prioritizing projects that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of Kenyans. He noted that this project is part of ongoing efforts to build resilient infrastructure that supports sustainable development across the country.

“Today marks an important milestone in our journey towards improving the lives of Kenyans through better access to essential services. This project will not only provide clean water to thousands of households but will also support local economies by enhancing agricultural productivity and improving public health,” President Ruto said.

The Moi's Bridge and Matunda Water and Sanitation Project is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase focusing on the construction of water supply systems and modern sanitation facilities. Once completed, it will significantly reduce waterborne diseases and improve living conditions for residents in the targeted counties.

As part of the government's focus on infrastructure, the project further highlights the importance of integrated development strategies that address the needs of diverse communities across the country. The launch of this initiative is another testament to President Ruto's vision for transformative change through targeted investments in key sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and now, infrastructure.
