Principal Secretary in the State Department of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Geoffrey Kaituko, today joined other mourners in Kanyaluo Ward, Karachuonyo Constituency, to bid farewell to Mama Elen Omollo Abuor, a respected community leader and advocate for girl child education and women's empowerment.
Kaituko, who expressed deep sympathy for the loss, attended the funeral alongside his colleague, Dr. Raymond Omollo, and other mourners, including the Abuor family. Mama Elen Omollo Abuor, who was the mother of Jemilla Lodung’a and businessman Paul Abuor from Nairobi, passed away at an undisclosed age. She was also the mother-in-law of prominent Lodwar businessman, John Lodung’a Youngstar.
In his message of condolence, PS Kaituko highlighted Mama Elen’s extraordinary contributions to her community, particularly her advocacy for the education of girls and empowerment of women in the region. "Apart from raising her children well, Mama Elen was a tireless champion for girl child education, ensuring many young girls had opportunities to learn and grow," said Kaituko.
The late Mama Elen's work has left a lasting impact in Homa Bay County, where she was known for her dedication to improving the lives of women and children. Her family and the wider community will remember her as a nurturing mother and a passionate advocate for social change.
