As the highly anticipated contest for the new African Union Chairperson draws closer, Kenya’s candidate, Raila Odinga, is intensifying his campaign efforts in North and West Africa.
Today, Odinga was hosted by Tunisia's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Tunisians Abroad, H.E. Mohamed Ben Ayed. Through his X account, Odinga shared that the meeting was of great significance, highlighting his agenda for the African continent and explaining why African heads of state should support his bid.
"The meeting proved to be a profound exchange of ideas, where I articulated my transformative vision for our beloved continent. With characteristic passion and clarity, I detailed comprehensive strategies for reinvigorating the African Union Commission," said the Kenyan candidate, emphasizing practical solutions to advance Africa's collective interests.
Raila, who strongly believes in Africa's potential and the need for better leadership, noted that Tunisia, through Mohamed Ben Ayed, has shown trust in his vision. He added that Tunisia is enthusiastic about his distinguished leadership in continental affairs. Tunisia now joins the growing list of African countries backing the Kenyan candidate for the top seat in the African Union.
"The warm encounter concluded with H.E. Ben Ayed extending his best wishes for success in my campaign, reinforcing the spirit of African solidarity and shared aspirations for our continent's future," wrote Odinga on his social media platforms.
