In a fiery statement, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kileleshwa Ward in Nairobi, Robert Alai , has sharply criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of actively undermining the current government led by President William Ruto. The MCA alleges that Uhuru, despite having allies within the government, continues to destabilize the administration out of personal animosity and fear of President Ruto’s potential success.
In the remarks, the MCA stated, “The financier of Gen-Z and the Itungati nonsense is coming out. Uhuru Kenyatta, despite being part of the government through his allies, is working behind the scenes to disrupt it. His actions show a clear agenda to destabilize the government, driven by personal vendettas.”
The MCA further questioned the former president’s role in recent political tensions, referencing a recent phone call between Uhuru and Azimio leader Raila Odinga. According to the MCA, Uhuru’s call for Raila to condemn abductions while simultaneously seeking benefits from President Ruto’s government reveals the contradictions within his actions.
“What Uhuru really hates is the thought of President Ruto succeeding more than he did. He fears that anyone, including President Ruto, could lead Kenya towards greater success and outshine his own administration,” the MCA asserted. “Uhuru’s primary concern is not the welfare of Kenyans but ensuring that his legacy remains unchallenged.”
The MCA’s statements come amid growing tensions between former President Kenyatta and the current government. Critics of Uhuru have often accused him of not fully backing President Ruto, despite their shared political history and alliances during the 2022 elections.
In a bold assertion, the MCA concluded, “The greatest enemy of Kenya now is Uhuru Kenyatta and his hirelings. We must not allow personal grudges and egos to get in the way of Kenya’s progress. It’s time to move forward and prioritize the well-being of our citizens over political squabbles.”
This latest criticism of Uhuru Kenyatta from a prominent political figure in Nairobi comes as part of an ongoing political discourse, as Kenya continues to navigate its leadership dynamics post-2022 elections. The MCA’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment among some government officials and political observers, who believe that Uhuru’s actions are potentially hindering the progress of the current administration.
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this political rift will affect the government’s stability and its ability to implement key policies aimed at advancing Kenya’s socio-economic development.
