Ruth Samoei Takes Over as Uasin Gishu County Chief Officer for Public Service Management

 



Uasin Gishu, Kenya – January 28, 2025 – A new chapter in the leadership of the County Government of Uasin Gishu was ushered in as Ruth Samoei officially assumed the role of Chief Officer for Public Service Management. Mrs. Samoei takes over from Nathan Korir, who had served in an acting capacity and has now been redeployed to the Department of Trade, also in an acting capacity.


The handover ceremony, which took place at the county offices, marked a significant moment for the department as Mrs. Samoei, formerly the Chief Officer for Cooperatives, outlined her vision for a more efficient and professional public service management structure.


“I am proud to take on this new responsibility, and I am committed to ensuring that our department is a beacon of professionalism, teamwork, and efficiency,” said Mrs. Samoei. “Together, we must strive to deliver the highest quality service to the people of Uasin Gishu while maintaining the values of Nguzo Kumi.”


Her vision emphasizes collaboration and mutual support within the department, with a focus on effective communication, time management, and personal professionalism in every aspect of work. Mrs. Samoei encouraged the department’s leadership to foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement, ensuring robust monitoring and evaluation systems are in place to track progress.


“The responsibility lies with us as leaders. Let us set clear targets and support one another to ensure we meet the expectations of the county and fulfill our shared vision,” she added.


In his farewell speech, outgoing Chief Officer Nathan Korir expressed his gratitude to the team for their dedication and hard work during his tenure. He highlighted the importance of professional development and urged his colleagues to continue performing their duties with passion and commitment.


“Your passion for service delivery is what drives the success of this department. Continue enhancing your skills, as this is not only important for your personal growth but also for improving the standards of service we offer,” Korir stated.


He also reassured Mrs. Samoei and the team of his full support, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve even greater success under her leadership.


Present at the ceremony were directors from various departments, including Nathan Koech (Human Resources), Josephat Rotich (Training and Development), Faith Seroney (Branding and Events), Emmanuel Biwott (Communication), Emmy Biwott (Records Management), and Philip Biwott (Planning and Administration). The occasion marked a symbolic transition as the county embarks on a new era of leadership focused on public service excellence and professionalism.
