The Kenya School of Government's (KSG) Security Management Institute, in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), has commenced an executive-level training program on the Prevention and Control of Violent Extremism (PCVE). The training, running from January 20 to January 24, 2025, aims to equip senior officers with advanced skills and strategies to address violent extremism effectively.

The program is supported by the USAID Sauti Yako, Amani Yako (Your Voice, Your Peace) initiative, which seeks to strengthen public sector competencies and foster a commitment to localizing PCVE efforts.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, KSG Senior Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Josephine Mwanzia, welcomed senior officers from key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). She emphasized the need for the training to inspire transformative change, urging participants to use their newly acquired knowledge to build safer and more secure communities.

NCTC Deputy Director Col. Yahya Mohamed echoed her sentiments, highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovative strategies, and community engagement in countering violent extremism. He stressed that building resilience and security in Kenya requires a united effort across all sectors.

This initiative underscores the importance of empowering public officials with the tools and insights necessary to address the root causes of violent extremism and implement sustainable solutions tailored to local contexts.

As the training progresses, it is expected to strengthen Kenya’s ability to respond to the evolving challenges of violent extremism while promoting peace and stability across the country.
