In a heartwarming display of perseverance and hope, South Sudanese refugee Adhel Garang Aguer has emerged as one of the top performers in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), securing an impressive mean grade of A. Her remarkable achievement has brought pride not only to her family but also to the entire refugee community in Kapsoya Estate.
Adhel, a former student of Bunyore Girls High School, was overjoyed as she shared the news of her success. “I am extremely happy today to have attained an A,” she said, her face lighting up with excitement. “I aspire to pursue medicine and become a pediatrician. I have always loved being with children, and I want to dedicate my life to caring for their health.”
Her journey to academic excellence has not been easy. Born in South Sudan, Adhel and her family fled their home country due to the ongoing conflict. They spent several years at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya before being relocated to Kapsoya, where Adhel continued her education.
Reflecting on her past struggles, Adhel shared the significance of her achievement: “This success means everything to my family and me. It’s not just my victory but a testament to the strength and resilience of the refugee community. I hope my story will inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the challenges.”
