The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) was honored today with the visit of the Cabinet Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo, EGH, alongside a delegation from the Ministry of ICT, Konza City, and NGAO leadership. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress of the Jitume Program and fostering dialogue on Kenya’s digital agenda.
During his visit, Hon. Kabogo toured the Jitume Lab at TENP, where he was briefed on the advancements made under the Jitume Program, which is designed to empower young people with the necessary skills to navigate the digital economy. He commended the Polytechnic for its commitment to enhancing digital skills and its impact on students' career development.
In a follow-up engagement, the Cabinet Secretary participated in a forum with the staff and students of TENP, where he shared insights into the Kenya Kwanza government's policy direction in the digital space. The forum also focused on strategies to strengthen Kenya's digital economy and the role institutions like TENP play in shaping the future of technology in the country.
Hon. Kabogo took the opportunity to encourage the students to use the digital space responsibly, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy and safety. He also pledged the Ministry's commitment to ensuring that TENP receives enhanced ICT infrastructure to further improve the quality of education and innovation at the institution.
"Collaboration between the government, education institutions, and industry is key to building a robust digital economy," said Hon. Kabogo. He also applauded the leadership of TENP, particularly Chief Principal Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, for the significant milestones achieved under his stewardship in positioning the Polytechnic as a leader in technological education.
Dr. Koech, together with the Senior Management Team, led the staff and students in warmly welcoming the Cabinet Secretary, underscoring the Polytechnic's strong commitment to supporting Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.
The visit marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the government and educational institutions in the pursuit of a more digitally inclusive and economically prosperous future.
