Top Security Officials Fail to Appear in Court, Lawyers Sent in Their Place

Tensions flared in court today as Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, and DCI Director General Amin Mohamed failed to appear in court as previously ordered. Instead, their lawyers and the Attorney General were present on their behalf, prompting immediate questions about the officials’ whereabouts.

Justice Bahati Mwamuye, visibly frustrated, adjourned the proceedings and instructed the lawyers to locate their clients, adding to the growing concerns about the lack of accountability at the top levels of the security apparatus.

The absence of the three high-ranking officials raised eyebrows, as it came amid heightened national security discussions, leaving many wondering if their failure to appear was a sign of deeper issues within the government. The court is expected to take further action once the officials' whereabouts are clarified.
